Lessons are weekly for 45 or 60 minutes. Consistent progress is made by regular practice and attendance, but also by the sheer fact that you have a lesson coming up. When we have a lesson coming up we are more likely to practice, that’s the truth. Sometimes we have a week without much practice, this is a normal part of the process. Each week is an opportunity to turn over a new leaf, acknowledge that perhaps we did not have a good week but we can have a better week next week.
Practice is a habit that takes time to establish. It is best to have an established time that you will practice every day, this way it becomes routine. It’s also important to take one day a week off with no practice. We need to take a break and rest. We are studying music for the joy of music but it is work and requires focus.
Over the course of a year you will receive 48 Lessons: 46 Private Lessons and 2 Recitals which count as a lesson. We have a Recital in December and one in June. Participation is not required at the Recital, simply put it is not everyone’s cup of tea, but attendance is encouraged. All Recitals are held at the Fauntleroy Church, afterwards we have a small reception in their connected Reception Area.
